The Santa Barbara region is considered one of the most beautiful in California. From the expansive beaches to a bustling downtown to scenic national parks, there are many great attractions within Santa Barbara County.
What folks may not realize is there is an impressive wine culture here. The area’s unique topography – the east-west orientation of the coastal mountains form valleys that open to the Pacific Ocean and creates the perfect environment for cultivating grape varietals.
While winery tours and tastings can be arranged by our staff at Pacifica Suites, those who would prefer to stay within downtown Santa Barbara can enjoy a more metropolitan wine experience.
The Santa Barbara Urban Wine Trail offers visitors the opportunity to taste and learn about different varieties and styles of wines crafted from Santa Barbara County’s best vineyards, without having to venture too far. Located in downtown Santa Barbara, a majority of the vineyards that the Urban Wine Trail sources from are located about 45 minutes North-East in Santa Ynez Valley, Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Maria. Imagine being able to walk between some of the area’s best wineries, all while getting a feel for this charming city and beach community!
Each winery along the Urban Wine Trail has its own set of hours and individual fees. The prices typically range from $5 to $15, and generally include between five and eight wine tastings. Many of the wineries require reservations for parties exceeding eight.
