A trendy hostel like The Wayfarer deserves a hip opening party and that’s exactly what we did on the evening of Thursday Oct. 30th. From entering by way of red carpet after the ribbon cutting ceremony to lounging in the hostel’s generous open lobby area, the party was a proper cheers to the new travel spot which officially opened in August. The night started with casual greetings at the welcoming red carpet area. This was followed with a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony to make the opening official. Special thanks to the Santa Barbara Chamber.
The party spiced up with help from Food Network’s own Meat & Potatoes Chef Rahm Fama in the hostel’s fully-equipped community kitchen. A favorite of the night, the Chef wowed guests with live cooking demonstrations featuring pork belly over gruyere mac and cheese, top sirloin over bread pudding and other delectable foods. This was in addition to passed hors d’oeuvres, the Build Your Own Taco Bar, Ice Cream Sundae Bar featuring McConnell’s Ice Cream, and fine local, crafted beverages hosted by Oreana Winery and Figueroa Mountain Brewing Company.
The event also allowed guests to explore and have a taste of all the unique features the hostel has to offer by providing tours of the Private and Shared Guest Rooms and access to the pool deck overlooking State Street, a guest favorite. The night was kept interesting with friendly Jenga and Connect Four competitions in the lobby, two games that guests are welcome to indulge in when staying at the hostel.
