With picturesque coastal views, lush landscapes and charming appeal, Half Moon Bay is the ideal setting to inspire the mind, which is exactly what it has been doing for decades. Artists have long come to this seaside oasis to create their masterpieces. Among them, Hollywood producers and directors seeking the perfect location to film.
Most recently, the production, “Chasing Mavericks,” a biographical feature film based on surfer Jay Moriarity’s pursuit of the perfect wave, was filmed on location in Half Moon Bay. During filming, cast and crew including Gerard Butler and Johnny Weston, called Half Moon Bay Lodge home. Located close to the famous Mavericks break for which the filmed is about, Half Moon Bay Lodge was the obvious lodging choice, and was more than happy to accommodate the film crew for such a locally relevant film.
