Stephen’s Culinary Experience
Chef Stephen Carrasco started his culinary career at age 10, helping out at his father’s restaurant endeavors. After serving as a paratrooper in the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division, Stephen worked as a cook in San Diego at Le Méridien and Hotel Del Coronado, before becoming a Sous Chef at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Oahu, Hawaii. After some time in Hawaii, Stephen was recruited by the Hotel Nikko at Beverly Hills to reintroduce their signature restaurant, where he became part of a multi award-winning team. His first Executive Chef position came next—at the world famous Sunset Marquis Hotel in West Hollywood.
During the last 20 years, Chef Stephen Carrasco has been a leader at numerous hotels in Los Angeles, most recently at the Westin Pasadena and The Hacienda Hotel in El Segundo, where the owners name their restaurant “Carrasco’s” after him. Today, Chef Stephen lives in Highland Park with his wife, Toby, whom he met when she was Hotel Nikko’s lead bartender. They have three very food-obsessed dogs.
