San Diego is one of Southern California’s most desirable destinations. 1) Balboa Park – This is America’s largest urban park, featuring 25 museums, landmarks and attractions. Enjoy hiking and biking trails, performing arts centers, gardens, and of course, the renowned San Diego Zoo. Whether visiting for a couple days or as long as a week, make a stop at this adult- and kid-friendly playground.
2) La Jolla – Twenty minutes north of San Diego, rests the quiet town of La Jolla, or “the jewel”. The city sits perched above cliffs, offering expansive vistas. Sea lions lounge in the area known as The Cove and visitors can snorkel to explore the local marine life. Close to the University of California San Diego, La Jolla boasts dynamic dining options and charming boutiques. The La Jolla Playhouse is a huge draw, and features both well-known and more obscure shows. Simply strolling the La Jolla streets is enough to soothe one’s soul.
3) USS Midway Museum – With more than 60 exhibits and 27 restored aircraft, this historic landmark allows visitors to climb aboard one of America’s most famous navel aircraft carriers. Exhibits range from the crew’s sleeping quarters to a massive galley, engine room, the ship’s jail, officer’s country, post office, machine shops, and pilots’ ready rooms, as well as primary flight control and the bridge high in the island over the flight deck.
4) SeaWorld – Let your imagination run wild as you explore the aquatic wonders at this famous San Diego staple. Shows, tours and exhibits run year-round, which means there is something for everyone. Get up-close and personal with mysterious and captivating creatures that can only be seen at SeaWorld.
