Remember the loveable scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz? Well, the city of Cambria, CA has a tradition that showcases scarecrows of all sorts, while also bringing the community together. The Cambria Historical Society is inviting Cambria artists to display over 100 hand-crafted whimsical scarecrow replicas in the East and West Village and along Moonstone Beach Drive for the scarecrow and harvest festival. The very festive fall festival will take place starting Friday, October 7th.
A schedule of events includes:
Friday, October 7th from 5-7:30pm – Enjoy an evening of “Beer & Brats” and beer sampling from four of Cambria’s most primitive local brewers.
Saturday, October 8th All Day – Meet and greet local scarecrow design specialists, enjoy the musical stylings of bluegrass, folk and jazz bands and indulge in the infamous pie baking contest.
Sunday, October 9th All Day – Participate in, or simply be entertained by, the “Something to Crow About Talent Show” along with a live music showdown and festive foods.
This may be a community-focused event, but it’s not meant to scare off out of town guests, who are always welcome to participate in this local tradition. Pacifica Hotels offers several lodging options during the festival including, Fog Catcher Inn, Fireside Inn and Pelican Inn & Suites.
